Cider to make one Smile(y)

leave a comment »

Simple, effective, current, clever, stylish but most importantly this packaging concept for Cider can’t help but put a smiley on your face.  I just love it! Design is Swedish, from studio Amore.  After launch “Cider” took second place on the Swedish cider sales list and has been in the top five ever since. And for brewer Kronleins a fine example of great design making the difference……and not a crossbow or woodpecker in sight!

Evian Prêt-à-Porter bottle by Christian Lacroix

leave a comment »

Every year French water company Evian launches a special edition bottle and eminent designers have been invited to work their magic. So how cool would it be if the phone rang and a brand as famous as Evian asked you to come up with a design for a range of exclusive bottles. I suppose when you are as cool and famous as Christian Lacroix, Paul Smith, Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier these things do happen.

My pick of the bunch is this lace pattern design by fashion designer Christian Lacroix – it is chic and elegant and provides the bottle with a classic frosted feel reminiscent of an icy window pane. Oh, and if you were wondering, Prêt-à-Porter translates as ‘Ready to Wear’ or ‘Off the Peg’.

“Classique” fragrance by Jean Paul Gaultier

with 4 comments

The world-famous designer created this perfume in 1993.  The distinctive bottle was first used for the “Classique” fragrance and was inspired by the iconic corset created by Jean Paul for the singer Madonna.  The perfume is packaged in a can rather than the usual cardboard box which adds to its uniqueness.  Subsequent variations to the design of the bottle have been influenced by Jean Paul Gaultier’s clothing collection of  that year.
